John Showman and Chris Coole have developed a deep musical connection in bands like The Foggy Hogtown Boys for over twenty years. Their music comes from a unique mix of old-time, bluegrass and folk that combines the influences of artists such as John Hartford and Hank Williams. In 2022 they published two albums: "Afield", a collection of old violin tunes, and "Much Further Out than Inevitable – A Tribute to Some Music of John Hartford."
The Lonesome Ace String Band (so the name when Showman & Coole performs with bassists) celebrates American Roots Music on a world-class level, purely acoustically and absolutely authentic.
As masters of their subject, they bring substance, skill and devotion and combine elements from oldtime, bluegrass, country and folk into original material in a fresh and timeless mix.
Gänsehaut-Harmoniegesang and the alternating lead vocals provide even more magic. They released their fifth album "Try to make it fly" and toured 2024,2025 and 2026 in Canada, the USA and Europe.
